CrockPot Barbecue Ribs

Hey friends! In this post I’m sharing my Crock-Pot Barbecue Ribs recipe. Now I know what you’re thinking… ” Ribs in the Crock-Pot?!”.. Yes hunny- I’m taking it there!

It all started years ago when I lived in an apartment, and had no room to grill. Not that, that mattered because I had zero knowledge to grilling anyhow! I refused to let anyone know that I couldn’t grill. I simply faked it by using my slow cooker and a few ingredients that give a misleading grilled taste.

One of the ingredients I use for my Crock-Pot barbecue ribs, is root beer. I know it sounds funny, but just trust me on this! The root beer is not going to make the ribs taste like ” soda”, it’s going to add that nice sweet brown sugar taste, and it also adds a little color to the ribs. My second secret ingredient is liquid smoke. It’s a must!! This ingredient is going to give the ribs the smoked flavor that the grill would have. I personally love hickory liquid smoke, but you can use a different flavor if you choose.

Here are a few tips 

  • If you need to buy liquid smoke, it  can be found in the seasoning isle at any big chain store ( Walmart, Target, Safeway, etc).
  • If you’re not a fan of root beer, you can substitute it with Dr. Pepper.
  • You can jazz this recipe up buy adding onion, garlic, and etc if you choose.
  • Use a smokey flavored barbecue sauce.
  • You can use any slow cooker, such as a Hamilton Beach or etc.
  • You can use beef or pork ribs

CrockPot Barbecue Ribs

Ingredients

5 lbs pork or beef ribs

2 tbsp of your favorite barbecue seasoning, or seasoning salt

1 liter of root beer soda

3 cups water

2 tbsp liquid smoke, hickory

1- 1 1/2 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  1. Remove the membrane from the ribs, and cut off any excess fat.
  2. Season each side of the ribs with the barbecue seasoning or seasoning salt.
  3. Roll the ribs up, jelly roll style, then place them into your slow cooker.
  4. Pour in the root beer, then the water, then pour in the liquid smoke.
  5. Set the slow cooker on high for 4 hours.
  6. After four hours, carefully remove the ribs from the slow cooker.
  7. Place the ribs on an foil lined cookie sheet.
  8. Brush the ribs with barbecue sauce, then place in the oven UNCOVERED on broil.
  9. Broil each side twice for three minutes, or until you reached the desired the appearance for your ribs.
  10. Enjoy!

Amazing Potato Salad Recipe

I love Potato Salad. Surprisingly I didn’t starting loving it until I was an adult. You see, my mom is the potato salad queen! She made it all the time, and I grew bored of it. We had it for holidays, Sunday dinners, and a couple more times through out the week! It wasn’t until I moved out on my own and made it only on occasions that I really started liking the stuff.

Being the daughter of a Potato Salad Queen, I learned several ways to make  potato salad. I actually prefer my salad simple, and to the point. I don’t want a million flavors in my ” ‘tato salad”! Amazing Potato Salad Recipe

Ingredients

6 large russet potatoes, peeled, and chopped into 1/2 cubes

4 large eggs, boiled and diced

3 tbsp dill relish

3/4 cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp yellow mustard

1/2 medium onion, diced

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp paprika(optional)

1/2 tsp parsley flakes(optional)

1/2 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Boil the the potatoes until tender, but NOT mushy!
  2. Drain the potatoes and let them cool down.
  3. Place the cooled potatoes into a large mixing bowl.
  4. Along with the potatoes add the diced boiled eggs, dill relish, mayonnaise, mustard, and onion.
  5. Gently toss the ingredients.
  6. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  7. Toss the ingredients.
  8. Place the potato salad into your desired dish.
  9. For "looks" sprinkle the paprika, and parsley flakes on top.
  10. Cover the potato salad, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  11. SERVE, and enjoy.

Easy BBQ Pulled Pork Recipe

Hey sweeties! I have another recipe for you to try( are you surprised?). In this post, I want to share a easy way to make BBQ Pulled Pork. This recipe is especially for my beginners. It’s incredibly delicious, and is not that time consuming! I think you will find this recipe to be delicious on its own, or on bread. Let me know what you think!

 

Easy BBQ Pulled Pork Recipe

Ingredients

2 lbs pork picnic roast

1/2 red bell pepper, chopped

1/2 medium yellow onion, chopped

1 tsp seasoning salt

1 tsp black pepper

4 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp olive oil

1 cup of your favorite bbq sauce

Instructions

  1. Rinse the meat under cool water then pat dry.
  2. Place the meat into you bake pan, and pour on the olive oil.
  3. Massage the olive oil in, and sprinkle on the seasoning salt and black pepper.
  4. Pat on 1 tbsp of the brown sugar on to the meat.
  5. Add the onion and red bell peppers into the bake pan, then cover.
  6. Place the meat into a preheated oven on 350 for 40-45 minutes.
  7. Remove the meat from the oven.
  8. Shred the meat using a fork or other utensil.
  9. Be sure to not toss out the broth. Use the broth from the meat to keep it moist!
  10. Add the remaining brown sugar, and the bbq sauce along with the meat.
  11. Make sure everything is well incorporated.
  12. Place the meat back into the oven, still on 350, for another 25-30 minutes.
  13. Enjoy the pulled pork by itself or on bread!
