Hey friends! Guess what’s coming up?!!! THE SUPER BOWL!!! YAY!! If you’re anything like my husband , and I you’re probably already planning your party. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I go a little overboard when it comes to my super bowl party spread. One year I made 2 cakes, a dozen of cupcakes, chili, tacos, spaghetti, a variety of chicken wings, and lots more… Sure, everyone was happy camper. No one left hungry, but honey- putting everything together was exhausting!! I kid you not, It was a lot of work. To make matters even worse, I missed a lot of the game because I had a lot of food to keep an eye on( warming stuff up, refilling platter… UGHHHH!)
This year I decided to plan a stress free super bowl party. I wanted to make sure that everyone, including myself, would not only be able to enjoy delicious food, but also be able to watch the Super Bowl game without worrying about reheating food. What did I decide to do?! Build a Nacho Bar! Everyone loves nachos right? Therefore I decided to set up the perfect spread with delicious tortilla chips, homemade yet easy nachos cheese, seasoned meat, and lots of toppings. My Super Bowl Party is definitely going to be a hit! Let me show you what I have planned!
Since my nacho bar is for the Super Bowl, I thought it would only be right to make sure that my theme was football. It only makes sense right? I found this cute football platter, and football bowl set at my local dollar store. You can use the platter for almost anything… The chips, nacho toppings, and etc. The bowls are perfect for salsa, sour cream, and guacamole!
I also manage to find these awesome football theme items: napkins, plates, cups. Cool right? I love the fact that they are disposable! I tried the reusable party ware, and child let me tell you- IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!! I hated cleaning all those dishes…It was awful! LOL.
Although nachos fall under “finger food” I also bought plastic ware, just in case.
Since all of my party theme items were green and brown, I decided to pick up this cute little green bucket ( also found at the dollar store). I decided to fill it up with ice, and use it as a cooler for our beverages!
Now let’s get to our Nacho Cheese & Seasoned Meat for our spread!
The recipe for my nacho cheese & seasoned meat is super easy! Both require very little ingredients, and steps. Check out my tutorial below, and be sure to print out the recipes as well!
Game Day Nachos video tutorial
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 package of taco seasoning
- ½ cup chunky salsa
- ½ cup water
- Brown the meat over medium heat, and drain all the fat.
- sprinkle in the taco seasoning, and mix until well combined.
- Next, add the salsa, and pour in the water.
- Mix until everything is well incorporated, and let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Keep warm until you're ready to serve.
- 8 oz Velvetta Cheese, any kind
- ¼ cup milk
- ½ cup of your favorite chunky salsa
- Melt the Velvetta cheese in a saucepan over low heat.
- Pour in the milk, and mix in.
- Toss in the salsa, and mix until well incorporated.
- Keep warm until you are ready to serve
Now that hard stuff is out of the way( super hard right? LOL!), it’s time to get out toppings ready!
Keep in mind that you can use as many or as little topping that you may like to use, but I decided to use:
- Yellow Onion
- Green Onion
- Sour Cream
- Colby Jack Cheese
I decided to place the tortilla chips in the middle of football platter, and all of the toppings on the right and left of the platter.
I used the football bowls for salsa, and sour cream. I should’ve bought more bowls, but since I didn’t I used one of my many glass bowls for the colby jack cheese.
To keep my nacho cheese and seasoned meat nice and warm, I used my mini slow cookers. They are perfect for parties! If you don’t have mini slow cookers feel free to use the larger ones, and set them on warm. You may also use buffet warmers.
For my beverages I decided to go with Cola, and my sons favorite squeezable juice ( okay, okay… I drink the stuff too!). I will also have beers, and wine available for the adults. The adult beverage will be kept in the refrigerator away from the kiddos( gotta play it safe ! 😉 )
Well folks, I hope that you found this post helpful! Let me know what type of party I should plan next down below! XOXO
